Fuck a big black duck. I’m sitting here waiting for some writing elf to bring me something-anything-worthy of a Barnes and Noble shelf from the land of make believe. But big bully nonfiction has punched my Barney Fife fiction square in the jaw. Now I’m wired shut and drinking through a straw.

Try some poetry instead 😊 it won’t make you any money but it’s good for the parts that money can’t reach!

I love reading poetry! But I’m afraid I’m not very good at writing it. But it does touch the deep parts. I am drawn to Thomas Hardy’s melancholy poems. “The newcomers wife” taught me that poetry can also be shocking.

You say you’re not very good at poetry? I’ve seen you post some excellent pieces, Andrew. Like prose, with practice you get better; and it doesn’t hurt to take a course and/or learn about all the different forms. You may find you’re better at writing certain types than others, that they come easier to you. Here’s a good site that explains a lot about poetry, and it’s easy to navigate
