Another Easter basket spring
The Redbud trees were blossoming
Bright purple lined the street
The South was sugar sweet
I remember
Cherry cardinals singing
Innocent children swinging
Newborn laughter echoed from the park
Alarm clocks all set forward
One less hour dark
The day I drove away
Opposite Resurrection Sunday
Reentered winter’s gray
Gained an hour
Lost an hour
You know I couldn’t stay
